Uganda: Heavy Truck Crashes Taxi While Reversing, Kills 4 People

Kampala: Police in central Uganda are searching for an unidentified truck driver who allegedly caused an accident in the Luwero locality.

How truck caused ancient in central Uganda

According to the relevant authorities, the trucker was reversing on the busy Kampala-Gulu Highway when he rammed into a taxi, a Toyota Hiace.

Monitor reported that four people were killed on the spot, and six others sustained critical injuries.

Among the fatalities were the taxi driver.

The trucker fled the accident scene immediately.

“We are actively searching for the truck driver responsible for this tragic accident,” police told the press.

The survivors were admitted to the Luwero Hospital, and the bodies of the deceased were booked to the morgue within the same facility.

A manhunt for the truck driver was successively launched by the state law enforcers.

Back home, 10 people died in a nasty road crash at a spot on the Londiani-Muhoroni Highway on Tuesday, September 3.

Police, while detailing the events leading to the fatal road crash, seemed to point fingers at a truck driver.

What caused Londiani grisly road accident?

A heavy truck and a PSV collided in Kipsitet, leading to the foregoing deaths and critical injuries of three survivors.

According to police, the truck driver's apparent lack of keenness caused the accident.

The heavy mover, of the Mercedes Benz make, swerved off its lane to ram into the oncoming matatu killing nine people on the spot, the driver included.

Onlookers at the scene corroborated the account of the police.

They said the truck was headed to Londiani while the Matatu was to Kisumu.

The bodies of the fatalities were booked into the St Vincent Mission Hospital morgue ahead of identification.

Three people, a child and two adults, survived the crash with critical injuries but of varied degrees and were admitted to the Muhoroni sub-county hospital.

The trucker fled the scene uninjured, with the police immediately launching a search for him.
