The High Court has ordered Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli to appear in court regarding the disappearance of three individuals from Kitengela.

Masengeli is required to attend the court session for questioning by 3pm on Tuesday, September 3.

Why has Gilbert Masengeli been summoned?

This follows a previous directive for security agents to reveal the whereabouts of Bob Micheni, Jamil Longton, and Aslam Longton, which was not complied with.

The three individuals were reportedly arrested and detained incommunicado after actively participating in efforts to oppose the now-withdrawn Finance Bill 2024.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has petitioned, alleging that the trio was abducted by armed men and forcibly placed into a white Subaru, which then drove off to an unknown location.

When did Kitengela men go missing?

Amnesty International and the LSK stated that the three were last seen on August 19, and their current whereabouts remain unknown.

"Last seen on August 19, protest organisers Robert Njagi and brothers Jamil and Aslam Longton were physically assaulted and abducted in broad daylight by masked men in private cars," read part of the joint statement.

Githiga High School student missing, family seeks help

In other news, a family in Kiambu is looking for their 16-year-old son who went missing after being dropped off at Githiga High School but never signed into school that day.

The student was last seen at a KCB bank withdrawing money from an ATM, which he subsequently transferred to his account.

It is believed that Waithaka may have intentionally skipped school, as he had confided in friends about his desire to transfer from the school.
