Kajiado - A young lady has painfully narrated her heartbreaking story of how she broke her leg while running away from her life.

Gladys Kwamboka Mokaya travelled to Iraq for greener pastures, but her experience was unforgettable.

Going to Iraq after working in Saudi

After suffering for years in Kenya without stable employment, she applied for a job in the Gulf and luckily got one.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Mokaya, who had previously worked in Saudi Arabia until her contract ended, did not know what job she would do in Iraq.

"At the airport, the employer comes, you negotiate, and then you go to their home. I told him how much I wanted since I had worked in another country in the Gulf, and we agreed after some negotiations," the mother of three said.

I wanted to quit, Kwamboka says

Kwamboka's stay with the new family was not pleasant. She cited mistreatment and even a lack of food occasionally.

She was denied communication with her family and only missed her lunch meal, as she vividly recalled.

" I wanted to quit and asked them to take me to the office. When we went there, I was beaten and returned home. Things got worse as the boss would beat me and even deny me food," she added.

Kwamboka lands in neighbour's compound

The Kajiado woman recalled three months when she was denied food, had to steal it, and could not communicate with her family.

She managed to get the Wi-Fi password through the boss's son, which angered her employer.

"I recorded the mistreatment I went through, and she got the audio and videos of the mistreatment. He got angry and got violent. I ran away to the second floor and jumped off when I saw him holding a knife. I fell in the neighbour's house and broke my leg. I was taken to hospital but only bandaged and no surgery," she painfully said.

Mombasa man jumps off fourth floor

In another story, DCI detectives in Mombasa pursued a group of men who scared their friend who fell off a residential building in Nyali.

The victim was with his wife in the house when he flung to the balcony after spotting a trio of his friends at his door.

He was admitted to the Coast General Hospital in Mombasa city after breaking his limbs during the commotion.
