It is not unusual to find matatu touts holding on to passengers' balances with the promise of returning them later.

Sometimes, they forget, and passengers alight the vehicle without getting their balance commonly known as ‘change’ back.

However, this was not the case for a lady identified as Mitchelle, who shared a video of her experience with a tout on TikTok.

In the clip, Mitchelle boldly asks the conductor for her Ksh 50 balance, a request that ignites an argument between the two.

“Give me my change, you keep saying you will give me and keep getting on and off the matatu; I want my balance,” Mitchelle complains.

In a quick rejoinder, the conductor tells her to be patient as he will get her the balance.

“Stop disturbing me; I already said I would give you the balance; you want to stress us because of Ksh 50,” he states.

He is then backed by another passenger who asks Mitchelle to keep her voice down as she is disturbing the peace in the matatu.

Seemingly angered by these remarks, Mitchelle lashes out at the woman as well, defending her request.

“What, do you mean I am making noise? Is the money mine or yours? Is Ksh 50 not money?" she poses.

Mitchelle and the conductor then continued in a heated argument, forcing other passengers to intervene to calm the situation.

“Calm down, get off the vehicle, stop making noise,” the voices of the passengers can be heard in the video addressing Mitchelle.
“I will not calm down, and I will not alight; whoever has a problem should get off,” she responds.
“Okay then, I am sorry,” Mitchelle says, making the entire situation hilarious.
