Kenyans Camp On NPS X Account Demanding Arrest Of Acting IG Masengeli: "Kiburi Itaisha"

Kenyans have flooded the National Police Service (NPS) X account, calling for the arrest of Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli.

Why did Kenyans camp on NPS's account?

Kenyans swarmed the NPS X account after an update on Masengeli conducting a security assessment of Mandera, Wajir, and Garissa counties.

The post stated that Masengeli was at Mandera Police Station meeting with NPS officers after first stopping in Wajir.

" IG, who is accompanied by DCI Mr. Mohamed I. Amin and Commandant GSU, Mr. Ranson Lolmodooni, SAIG, is conducting a security assessment of the operational areas including Wajir, Mandera, and Garissa Counties this week following the recent probing attacks in the security camps," the statement read in part.

Kenyans appeared frustrated because the acting IG was conducting security assessments despite having six court summons.

On Monday, September 9, Masengeli was required to appear in court to explain the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of three people in Kitengela.

However, the police boss sent DIG Kenya Police Service Eliud Lagat to represent him, saying he was in Wajir handling security matters.

Masengeli found guilty by court

In a separate incident, Masengeli was found guilty of disobeying court orders.

In a ruling on Monday, September 9, High Court Judge Lawrence Mugambi said impunity and open defiance would not be allowed, and those hell-bent would not find refuge.

Mugambi ruled that Masengeli had continued to hold the court at ransom after he failed to honour the six court summons.

The judge argued that the court could no longer ascertain what could have happened to the petitioners because of the acting IG's action.
