The government, through the Ministry of Education, has issued a directive mandating that all learners register for the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) before the beginning of third term.

According to a press statement seen by TUKO.co.ke, regional and county education directors were instructed to ensure that all parents register children as dependents under SHIF before starting the new school term.

"All school going children are therefore required to register as dependents of their parents before schools reopen," the statement read in part.

The notice comes as schools are about to reopen, giving parents a limited time to comply with the Ministry of Education's directive.
