Kericho - At least 9 people are feared dead following a road accident at Kipsitet, Koguta, on the Londiani-Muhoroni highway on Tuesday afternoon, September 3.

How did the accident happen?

The accident occurred when a lorry carrying flour collided with a 14-seater public service matatu along the highway.

Police reports indicate the trailer driver lost control, swerving out of his lane and colliding with an oncoming matatu headed toward Kisumu.

At least 9 people, including the driver, were killed in the fatal crash, while a child and two adults sustained serious injuries.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to St. Vincent Mission Hospital Mortuary, while the injured were transported to Muhoroni Sub-County Hospital.

5 family members killed in Eldoret-Malaba crash

The Londiani crash comes days after five family members, including a bride, lost their lives in an Eldoret-Malaba Highway accident.

The incident occurred on the morning of Sunday, August 25, when a speeding oil tanker collided with a tractor, lost control, and eventually crashed into the family’s Probox car.

Simon Koskei, the father-in-law of the deceased, shared that the family had gone to pick up the woman when the collision happened.

Additionally, two individuals sustained injuries and were rushed to Eldoret Referral Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
