Mutai implored MCA to pardon him for the alleged accusation of gross violations of the constitution and sexual-related offences.

In his apology, the Kericho governor asked the MCAs and residents to forgive him if he had done anything wrong while discharging his duties.

According to Mutai, the MCAs should consider that he is a husband and a father to young children before executing the impeachment motion.

"I beseech you, the county assembly. I am a son to someone, too; I'm a husband, a father, and a young family member. To the residents of the county, if I have done anything wrong, please forgive me. Members of the county assembly led by the majority leader whom I have worked together with, please forgive me for the sake of children," Mutai pleaded.

Why Kericho governor is wanted out of office

As reported earlier, on Tuesday, September 24, Sigowet MCA Kiprotich Rogony tabled an impeachment motion against Mutai.

The member listed several grounds to support his motion, including gross violation of the constitution, gross misconduct, and abuse of office.

In the motion notice seen by TUKO.co.ke, Mutai was accused of alleged acts of indecency involving women.

Further, the county boss was accused of intimidating and molesting junior officers who seemed to dissent from him.

The motion mover said the victims would be brought to testify before the county assembly during the debate.

Mutai is also accused of encroaching on private land and illegally designating it as a dumpsite without the proprietor's consent.

The motion will be tabled on the floor for debate and voting on October 2.
