A trio of missing Kenyans have been found a month into their abduction.

Forty-two-year-old Longton Jamil, his brother Aslam Longton (36), and FreeKenya Movement coordinator Bob Njagi disappeared in Kitengela on August 19.

They were abducted by people believed to be police officers.

Where were missing Kitengela brothers found?

Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Faith Odhiambo confirmed the trio were alive.

Jamil and Aslam were found in Kiambu county's Gachie area on Friday dawn, September 20.

Njagi was located at the Tigoni Police Station where he took himself.

This came hours after speculation had gone rife on social media about the trio's security.

Some quarters had claimed they had been murdered.

Earlier, the new Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, said the missing three were not in police custody.

Former acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli was thrown into a tricky legal situation after he defied seven court summons in which he was to explain the whereabouts of the group.

Masengeli was convicted of contempt of court and handed six months in jail.

How did court react to Masengeli's request?

His troubles deepened on Thursday, September 19, after his desperate attempt to apologise and delay his sentence was rejected by the High Court.

In a hearing, Masengeli, through his lawyers Steve Ogolla and Cecil Miller, sought to appear before Justice Lawrence Mugambi to offer an apology.

However, the court firmly dismissed the request, which was viewed as a bid to stave off his impending six-month jail term.

Masengeli had requested to be allowed to appear before the High Court judge and present his apology between 12 pm and 3 pm.

Presiding Judge Chacha Mwita was not moved by the plea and declined to grant Masengeli’s request.

Instead, Justice Chacha directed that the case be presented before Justice Mugambi on Friday, September 20, for further directions.
