Nairobi - National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah has continued with his attack on Deputy President Rihgathi Gachagua.

Speaking at a church service in Embakasi West on Sunday, September 15, Ichung'wah said some government officials were derailing President William Ruto's development agenda.

What Ichung'wah said about 'the snake' in government

The Kikuyu MP urged the president to ignore his political nemesis and focus on delivering his ambitious promises.

Without mentioning names, Ichung'wah urged Ruto to 'shake off the snake' from his Kenya Kwanza administration before it's too late.

"Don't be afraid, shake off the snake. That viper on your hand, the viper, the snake in your government, please shake it off. Not for your own sake so that it doesn't bite you. Shake it off so that your hand may do what the Lord purposed that hand to do," Ichung'wah said.

The outspoken lawmaker cited an excerpt from the Bible and likened it to the challenges the president is facing under his leadership.

"When we read in the book of Acts 3:28 that when Apostle Paul got to Malta with a shipwreck and many people swam to the shore and as they were putting up the fire, as you read all the way to 27, a snake twirled around his hand," said Ichung'wah.

According to Ichung'wah, the 'snake' in the Kenya Kwanza administration was determined to make Ruto fail.

How Ichung'wah rebuked DP Gachagua

Earlier, the Kikuyu lawmaker warned the deputy president against using his push for Mt. Kenya unity for personal gain.

The two have been at odds, with their differing views causing friction among Kenya Kwanza leaders.

While speaking in Meru on Sunday, September 9, Ichung’wah criticised Gachagua for promoting Mt Kenya unity only when seeking personal benefits that do not serve the region or the nation.

He also rebuked Gachagua for tying his demands to the votes President William Ruto secured from the region, arguing that Ruto earned those votes through his own efforts and not because of Gachagua.
