Some clutched photos of their loved ones, while others leaned on each other for strength during the sorrowful moment.

Religious and political leaders who joined the mourners stood to offer words of comfort one by one, but the pain was palpable.

How did the Muhoroni accident happen?

Eleven people lost their lives, and three others sustained critical injuries following the grisly accident involving a matatu and trailer.

In the Tuesday, September 3 accident, the matatu had been on its way to Kisumu, ferrying its passengers with the usual hustle and bustle.

According to police, the truck driver's apparent lack of keenness caused the accident.

The heavy mover Mercedes Benz swerved off its lane to ram into the oncoming matatu, killing nine people on the spot.

Witnesses at the scene, many of whom are still haunted by the grisly sight, corroborated the account of the police.

The bodies of the fatalities, that of the driver included, were booked into the St Vincent Mission Hospital morgue ahead of identification.

Photos shared from the scene depicted a nasty bloodbath that no one would survive in ordinary circumstances.

Who survived Londiani accident?

In a related incident, a man who survived the crash as those around him died was identified as a respected church leader and a dedicated patron of the Christian Union (CU) at Nyagoko School.

A close friend described the survivor, Daniel Osieko, as a man of deep faith who had a history of inspiring others through his spiritual leadership.

Dennis Onam, a fellow teacher and Anglican lay reader, shared his astonishment and gratitude about the incident.
