A video of a Meru grandmother trying to speak to a reporter in English has emerged on social media, amusing netizens.

The grandmother, who wanted to contribute to a matter the journalist asked about, started by asking which language to respond in.

In a viral TikTok clip, the elderly woman said she could respond in Meru, Kiswahili, and English, adding that she was comfortable using either to communicate.

"Should I speak in English, Ameru or Kiswahili? Okay. Good afternoon, everybody. Should I say everything and the nini...? (stutters). It does not matter, provided it is not my language. Kwa hivyo, I want to talk in Ameru," she said as the locals who had flanked her burst into hearty waves of laughter.

In other news, a man living on the streets of Kisumu town also set tongues wagging with his impeccable English as he talked about his life.

In a video shared by @jeff_faddy, the young man said he is the son of teacher Rebecca Makhulu of Kaimosi Nursery School in Vihiga county.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Jeff Faddy, the man who took the video, said he needed some rehabilitation to become independent.
