During the invasion, the police and the chief fled and hid in a banana plantation while the residents hurled stones at other police officers who arrived but were overpowered.

The police officers had to use tear gas and fire shots into the air to restore tranquillity and order in the village.

"We want to administer justice to the suspect ourselves because we don’t trust the police. They have been collaborating with and protecting these criminals," said one of the youths.

The youths raided the cells but left after discovering that the suspect they were looking for was not there.

They vowed not to rest until they captured the suspect and would punish him by ensuring the man never repeats the crime.

The youths inscribed the writings from the book of Ecclesiastes 9:5 as they complained about the lack of arrests related to this incident and other reported cases in the village.
