In a press statement seen by TUKO.co.ke on Friday, September 13, the medical facility noted that its staff is composed of nearly all ethnic communities.

"The Nairobi Hospital is a national asset and one of Kenya's heritage brands. Because of its distinction, nearly all ethnic communities are represented in our staff establishment," Chris Bichage, the chairman of the Board of Management stated.

Business Daily reported Nairobi Hospital faced criticism from the Kenya Hospital Association, which wanted its board members removed from office due to a lack of confidence in their leadership and alleged embezzlement of KSh 2 billion.

How much revenue did Nairobi Hospital make?

Its report indicated it made KSh 12,190,305,000 in the last financial year, up from KSh 11,042,629,000 in the previous year.

During the period under review, it made a profit of KSh 190.7 million, buoyed by increased admissions.

Monthly payments to consultant doctors increased from an average of KSh 135.59 million in 2023 to KSh 141.53 million in 2024.

Why Nairobi Hospital increased doctors' salaries

In January, Nairobi Hospital's Board of Management approved a 10% cost-of-living adjustment for all staff, as CEO James Nyamongo announced.

The adjustment was reflected in the January 2024 payslips, excluding those who served resignation notice or just joined.

This came after KMPDU secretary-general Davji Atellah highlighted the plight of doctors in the facility.
