Nairobi - A young man is seeking answers about his roots following conflicting information about his background.

Edward Amata Atiga says he has several versions of how he came to be raised by a guardian who claims to be his grandmother.

In one version, he was told his mother died while giving birth to him, and he ended up in the arms of his grandmother, Florence Makungu.

What happened to Amata's parents?

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, he noted a second version where he was indirectly told he was bought from his mother.

"The story is that my mum conceived me when she was in campus, and her parents did not want her to keep the baby. They push her to the edge to terminate the pregnancy, but she didn't. That's when my grandma came into the picture. She allegedly told my mum to keep the pregnancy and give birth; then she would buy me.
"When angry, she often tells me she would have used the money she bought me to buy land and start an investment. Even in church, her friends murmur that I was bought," he said.

I want to know the truth, Amata says

The florist said he faced difficulties whenever his birth certificate was needed for a task, as his 80-year-old grandma was always reluctant to provide it.

He also noted that his grandma never stayed in one place for long. She kept on relocating as though she were running away from something.

"I just want to know the truth. I have never met my father or mother. I have no idea how they look or where they are. I do not know even if I have biological relatives. I want answers," he said.

Buia family holds funeral for missing kin

In another story, the family of Kennedy Were Wanga held a funeral for a banana stem after searching for him for two years in vain.

They bought a nice suit, dressed the banana stem in it, and placed it in a coffin to allow their kin's spirit to rest in peace.

Wanga was kidnapped on April 23, 2022, in Nambaale, Busia-Kenya, by armed men driving a numberless vehicle.
