Nakuru County, Kenya — "Do I want to sit in an office or risk with farming?"

That’s the question Esther, a young, passionate farmer, asked herself before diving headfirst into farming.

Esther is the driving force behind the Bee My Partner Youth Group—a collective of 14 farmers from Njoro Sub-County.

In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Esther disclosed that their secret is a fusion of community empowerment and Black Soldier Fly larvae.

"The Black Soldier Fly larvae are a superfood for poultry. They are packed with protein, which slashes feed costs by nearly half," she started.

Coupled with Azolla, a protein-rich aquatic plant, their model is a game-changer for sustainable farming.

How Esther's group is revolutionising agriculture

Through their efficient setup, Esther and her team produce Bocashi, an organic fertilizer they sell to local farmers at affordable prices.

The group also excels in fish farming, poultry rearing, and—naturally—beekeeping.

Apart from their farm, they are dedicated to teaching other farmers how to reduce poultry farming costs without sacrificing profit.

"Our plan is to revolutionize the local agricultural landscape with sustainable practices that benefit the entire community," she continued.

What would you do if you weren’t afraid? If you’re anything like Esther, you’d change the world, one farm at a time.

Factors influencing size of eggs laid by hens

In another agricultural article, TUKO.co.ke shared the variables that influence the size of eggs a poultry farmer's chicken lays.

These range from the hen's diet to environmental conditions, but they directly impact productivity.

Understanding these factors can optimize egg production and ensure high-quality yields.
