Nithi Bridge: Woman Who Attended Parental Blessing Event Narrates Last Moments Before Crash

• Emily Nzasu, a member of the Vision Group, whose members sadly died in the Nithi Bridge accident that claimed 12 lives, shared how the grisly accident occurred
• The woman shared that their matatu was the first to veer off the road but was able to return to the correct lane, and shortly afterwards, the other vehicle veered off into the wrong lane

A young member of the Vision Group that lost 12 members in a multi-car accident on Nithi Bridge has shared witnessing the van carrying her friends get into the accident.

How many people died in the Nithi Bridge accident?

In an interview with Citizen TV, Emily Nzasu explained that their vehicle was the first to start veering off the road.

"Our matatu was the first to veer off somehow but the driver was able to control it, but the matatu behind us, which had 10 people and two children, came to overtake us and ended up losing control; it went on the other lane of cars towards Meru and collided with a pickup," said Nzasu.

According to the Vision Group chama member, it took the efforts of the police and firefighters to extract the bodies of their friends from the wreck.

Rongai family mourns Nithi Bridge accident victim

Lucy Kiende, a neighbour of the late Njeri at Kware Market in Rongai, bitterly mourned her after learning she was among those who died in the Nithi Bridge accident.

According to Lucy, Njeri was upbeat as she prepared to leave for the parental blessing group event at Nkubu in Meru.

Njeri left behind a husband and young kids, and Lucy called on the government to help lay her to rest and also educate her young children.
