Migori residents were not the only ones excited to see Ruto; the people of Kisumu gave him a heroic welcome, taking their reception to the next level.

The reception was so warm that Ruto took to social media to thank the people of Kisumu county.

"Thank you, the people and traders of the great City of Kisumu, for the warm welcome," Ruto's statement read in part.

Kenyans online reacted on social media to Ruto's reception in the Nyanza region, with some expressing disbelief.

How Ruto, Raila formed broad-based govt

This comes barely a month after Raila disclosed how he and Ruto reached an agreement leading to the formation of the broad-based government.

According to the former prime minister, ex-president Uhuru Kenyatta contacted him and requested that he talks to Ruto as the country was "burning."

Before he could do that, the president reached out to him, pointed out areas where problems arose, and they both discussed the way forward.
