South Africa - The Letsitele Police Station in Limpopo is mourning the loss of two South African Police Service members who died in a road crash.

The collision occurred on the R529 Road as they were travelling to attend the funeral of a fellow SAPS member on Saturday morning, September 21.

News365 reported that the accident involving a grey Ford Figo and a purple Quantum taxi also resulted in the deaths of two other individuals and left 10 others injured.

SAPS mourns deceased colleagues

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe alongside the SAPS community, conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wished a swift recovery to the injured.

“The incident has created a significant void in our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving families during this incredibly difficult time. We honor the lives of these individuals, who served our community with unwavering dedication and commitment.
We also wish a speedy recovery to the nine passengers and the driver of the Quantum taxi who were injured in the accident. We hope they find strength and support from their loved ones as they embark on their road to recovery,” said Hadebe.

Who were the victims in R529 road accident?

IOL added that the victims have been identified as Constable Moloto, 53, and data capturer Patience Shingange, 49, who was also a dedicated representative of the Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union, according to Limpopo provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.

Shingange’s 18-year-old daughter, Tinghitsi, and her 70-year-old aunt, Lucy Shikwambana, also died in the tragic crash.

Kiambu nominated MCA dies in road accident

In other news, a Kiambu-nominated MCA Ezra Kabuga died after being involved in a tragic crash along Thika Road.

The MCA's vehicle collided with a lorry near Mang'u Hish School on Sunday morning, September 22 before catching fire.

Reports indicated that the deceased, who left behind a young family, was travelling to Nairobi from his home in Thika town.
