A man, identified as Ddamulira Godfrey, has been arrested after he was allegedly found with 24 human skulls in his possession.

The police reported that they believe the skulls might have been used in ritualistic human sacrifices.

The disturbing discovery was made in Godfrey's shrine, located in the suburbs of the capital, Kampala.

Speaking to the BBC, police spokesperson Patrick Onyango revealed that Godfrey would be charged under the Prevention and Prohibition of Human Sacrifice Act.

In addition to the human skulls, police also uncovered animal remains and skins in the shrine, further intensifying the investigation.

"We are charging him first under the Prevention and Prohibition of Human Sacrifice Act, which prohibits one being in possession of human body parts and instruments of human sacrifice. If he is found guilty, he will serve life in prison," he stated.

How did Godfrey's neighbours react to discovery

The local community is still in disbelief, as those who knew him expressed shock and surprise at the allegations.

James Kirumira, Godfrey's landlord, revealed that he had known him for over 20 years and always regarded him as a law-abiding individual.

"The recovery of the human skulls shocked us all because we all knew him as a peaceful person, and no one would suspect him to be involved in such criminalities," Kirumira explained.

Similarly, Sam Ssendegeya, the area chairperson for Kitaka Zone, shared his astonishment at the turn of events.

According to Ssendegeya, when Ddamulira first arrived in the village, he introduced himself as a traditionalist and even provided supporting documents to affirm his role.

17 human skulls discovered from alleged shrine

In a related incident, two children who went to fetch firewood in Kubanga village discovered 17 skulls buried in a metallic box.

The suspected shrine is owned by Tabusa Bbosa Lujja, a primary suspect in the murder of Ndiga head, Daniel Bbosa.

The authorities have begun examining the skulls to determine their age, sex, and the possible time of burial.
