He joined Citizen TV in 2016 and quickly rose to become the head of the Kiswahili News Desk in 2017.

In 2018, he moved to NTV, where he served as an editor and anchor, further cementing his reputation in the industry.

His expertise eventually led him to a role in public service, where he was appointed Chief Officer for ICT, e-government, and Public Communication in Nakuru County.

2. How did Salim Swaleh transition to government service?

In 2023, Swaleh took on a new challenge as the Director of Communications in the office of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

However, this promising career path was abruptly interrupted in June 2024 when he was arrested in connection with a graft case that brought his professional life to a standstill.

3. Why was Salim Swale arrested?

Swaleh’s arrest stems from a fraud scheme within Mudavadi’s office, involving charges of impersonation, fraud, and abuse of office.

He and other suspects are accused of allowing imposters to access government buildings, posing as VIP guests or officials, in exchange for bribes.

The scheme reportedly targeted foreigners, exploiting their need for government favours.

Investigations revealed that certain government officials aided the fraudsters, leading to Swaleh’s downfall.

4. How was Salim Swaleh's childhood life?

Swaleh’s journey to success was not without its challenges.

Due to financial difficulties, he dropped out of school in Class Four and only returned to education at the age of 15.

While in school, he helped his grandmother sell mandazis in their local area.

Despite these hardships, he persevered, eventually finding his way back to school and later to a successful career in journalism.

5. Who is Salim Swaleh's wife?

The former NTV journalist is married to Sharifa, a supportive partner who has stood by him through his career highs and lows.

The couple is blessed with three children, and Sharifa has been a pillar of strength for Swaleh, especially during these trying times.

What did Salim Swaleh tell Mudavadi?

Previously, Swaleh regretted breaking the trust he had built between himself and Mudavadi.

He narrated how life has been difficult ever since he was linked to KSh 5.8 million fraud at Mudavadi's office.

While pleading with Mudavadi to forgive him, Swaleh disclosed that he is facing challenges paying his bills after his salary stopped abruptly.
