Has Trans Nzoia county attained a two-third gender rule?

Natembeya assured the Senate that his administration has already implemented affirmative action to promote the recruitment of women, youth and persons living with disabilities.

He further informed senators that his administration has strictly observed the two-third gender rule by ensuring that both genders are given equal opportunity during recruitment.

“Trans Nzoia County is one of the few counties that has employed more females than males in their workforce. For instance, we have a total establishment of 4,125 employees. Of the total employees, we have 2,278 female employees, which represents 55% of the total workforce,” Natembeya said.

The committee chaired by Marsabit senator Chute Mohamed was impressed by Natembeya's presentation.

Why senators were impressed by Natembeya

Nominated senator Beth Syengo lauded Natembeya, saying his presentation was perfect, making him look like presidential material.

"Looking at the presentation, thank you so much; it's fantastic. Allow me to declare that you look like presidential material," Syengo said.

For his part, Lamu senator Joseph Githuku said other governors should visit Trans Nzoia and learn from Natembeya's good work.

"I want to join my colleagues in congratulating the good work he is doing to the people of Trans Nzoia, I think other governors need to go and benchmark from that county," Kamau said.

The committee's chairperson lauded Natembeya for being the least travelled governor in the country.

According to Mohamed, Natembeya has never travelled outside the country since he was elected as a governor in 2022.

Why Cleophas Malala backed Natembeya

Elsewhere, former Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala rallied support for the Tawe Movement agenda led by Natembeya.

Malala said as Natembeya calls for Prime Cabinet Secretary (CS) Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula to retire from politics, so should former governor Wycliffe Oparanya and former CS Defense Eugene Wamalwa.

He faulted Oparanya's plan of racing for Kakamega senator in 2027 and said he should go home.
