Bomet - A school has been thrown into mourning following the death of a staff member whose hard work was evident.

Richard Kiplangat Mutai passed away on Wednesday, September 4, leaving the school fraternity in disarray.

The news broke the hearts of many close to the teacher who used to teach mathematics.

How many siblings did Mutai have?

Simoti Secondary School students and staff members assembled at his funeral service as they mourned him.

A young girl led her school in an emotional song on an emotional day as they remembered the teacher fondly known as Mr Maralal.

"Mutai was born in 1969 in Bomet county. He was the last born in a family of eight siblings. He lived a great life full of passion and had the vision to change and impact the lives of others through education and empowerment," part of the eulogy said.

The students and staff members looked sad as some took out their handkerchiefs to wipe tears.

Did Mutai have wife and kids?

Others could not raise their heads as they looked down to the ground, as they hid their tears and sorrow.

"Mutai got married in 1995 to Caroline and they were blessed with six children. He had several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was the team leader at family gatherings and played a big role in bringing family members together," the eulogy continued.

As a teacher, he was known for his hard work, resilience, determination and consistency.

Many who knew him sent emotional messages as they consoled the family and school that suffered a massive blow.

Kapsabet Boys' teacher dies in accident

In another story, Kenyans shared their condolences with the family of Kennedy Mwanja, a geography teacher who died in a road accident.

Mwanja was taking his Form Two students on an educational trip when their school bus lost control and crashed.

The Kapsabet Boys' bus rolled several times, killing the educator and one of the students.
