What caused Nakuru-Eldoret Highway accident?

Barasa said he boarded the bus in Bungoma at midnight, hoping to reach Nairobi before the accident, which occurred at 4 a.m.

"We're not saying the bus had excess people on board, but it got to a point where the driver was driving fast. We began wondering what was going on," he said.

Barasa added that shortly afterward, he heard a loud crash when the bus collided with a stationary lorry parked by the roadside, then struck a Probox and veered off the road.

He further mentioned that he and his wife sustained only head injuries while their two children were uninjured.

Another victim recounted an incident where the vehicle started accelerating rapidly. He noted that, in his view, the driver appeared not to be careful.

"You see the driver hit a stationary lorry. So it appeared to me like he was sleeping," he said.

Kuresoi North Police Commander Juddah Gathenge confirmed the incident, reporting that 21 passengers sustained minor injuries while three suffered serious injuries.

He also confirmed that two people died in the accident. Gathenge added that, of the 24 injured, four were children.

2 killed in Gitaru accident

This accident comes a day after two people were confirmed dead and 10 others seriously injured after a bus from Arch Bishop Ezekiel Group of Schools collided with a trailer at the Gitaru, Kikuyu-Wangige Junction.

Reports suggested that the accident involved a school bus, which members of the public had hired for an event before the tragedy occurred.

The school bus that collided with the trailer veered off the road and overturned, severely damaging almost its entire roof.
