Simon Saleh, a survivor of the accident, told Nation that the journey was smooth, and the driver remained calm until the accident.

Saleh disclosed that travellers in the Simba Bus began complaining about its slow pace as it approached the Twin Bridge.

After complaining about the slow speed, the driver suddenly accelerated before ramming into a lorry at the bridge.

According to the survivor, the change in speed triggered concerns from the passengers, who began hounding and pressuring the driver.

"Some of us even complained that the bus was slow, but I thank the Red Cross and other agencies that rescued us from the wreckage. When we arrived at this section of the road, the bus suddenly hit a lorry which went ahead to hit a car. The bus then rolled," Saleh said.

Migaa crash claims 14 lives

In another tragic incident on the same road, a sombre atmosphere settled over the Migaa area near Salgaa following a tragic collision involving a Coast bus and multiple other vehicles.

The Kenya Red Cross Society reported that 55 people were rescued and taken to Coptic and Molo hospitals for urgent care.

The survivors have revealed that the ill-fated bus had mechanical problems that were repeatedly ignored.

Survivor Rhoda Atieno, who was travelling from Kisumu, revealed that the bus had 71 passengers en route to Mombasa and that the crew had faced mechanical issues throughout the journey. She also mentioned that the bus had not been serviced when it left Mombasa for Kakamega.
