India - A woman has sought a divorce just 40 days after her wedding, citing her husband's infrequent bathing as the primary issue.

She visited Agra's family counselling centre to report that he showers only once or twice a month.

What was the man's response to wife's claim?

When asked for his side of the story, the husband, identified as Rajesh, admitted to having an "allergy" to water and acknowledged her complaints.

He noted that, in response to her requests, he had bathed six times during their brief marriage, as India Today reported. Additionally, he stated that, at times, he only sprinkles water on his body to avoid bathing.

Following discussions with the police, Rajesh agreed to improve his hygiene and commit to daily showers. Despite this, his wife has refused to continue living with him.

Her family has subsequently filed a dowry harassment complaint at a local police station and requested a divorce.

The Economic Times added that the couple has been directed to return to the counselling centre on September 22 for further resolution.

Man seeking to divorce partner of 22 years disappointed

In other news, a man who was seeking to divorce his wife of 22 years was dealt a blow by the Nairobi court.

Despite having married through the traditional way and having three children together, the court argued that the couple had no legal certificate of marriage.

The man initially took the matter to a lower court after his wife refused to return to the country from the US. He was not convinced by the ruling making him appeal.

Unfortunately, the decision was upheld and he was declared free from the onset of their marriage.
