Australian-based Kenyan star Lucy Musa has finally explained the events that led her to take a musical hiatus before relocating to Australia about seven years ago.

Why did Lucy Musa move abroad?

Now back in Kenya to launch her new music, most of which has been recorded in South Africa, the multitalented artiste says she has come to terms with her heartbreaking love affair that saw her live an abusive life and get scammed millions of cash.

“I came to find out that this man, my lover then, was in multiple relationships, yet I had invested in my marriage for us to have the best future.

In the five years we dated, I funded our projects, including his personal life, only to come to discover that it was all a scam, a big lie,” Lucy told TUKO.co.ke

In the first track off the soon-to-be-released album, Uwii, the beauty addresses her relationship tribulations, repeatedly chanting:

“Uwii, nimekulwa”.

Lucy said her experience with her ex inspired the song, in which she features her mother.

Asked if the man in question is a prominent person, the singer, a yogi, was hesitant to respond, only saying she would only reveal his name when her conscience allowed.

“He is not a nobody because I am not a cheap girl. My mum would read the red flags and warn me. The end was so heartbreaking. I got depressed, left music and left the country for Australia, where I started life fresh.
I am over it and fully ready to get my music back on course."

Aside from Uwii, her other song, Duck, is a follow-up track that details the failed relationship.

“I don’t want anyone to pity me. I have discovered that many girls in Nairobi and worldwide have gone through the same thing but are afraid to accept that they have to move on. I want us to have fun over the sad incident and move on.”

Lucy is doing a media tour before her album release and listening party later this month.
