During the event, there was an eating competition where participants competed in smashing a huge loaf of bread and a 2-litre soda.

While others struggled to finish the bread and soda, a woman and a man managed to finish within the set timeframe.

The winners were awarded KSh 2,000 by the Trans Nzoia governor.

How man finished food in 8 minutes

Elsewhere, a Tanzanian man won TSh 100,000 (KSh 5,000) after emerging as the winner in an eating competition known locally as Tonge Nyama.

The competition, which was held in Morogoro and covered by Ayo TV, attracted five contestants who sought to not just gobble the sumptuous meal but also win some money while at it.

Cheered on by a large crowd that had gathered to witness, the competitors chawed through the mound of food like hungry hyenas.

Out of the lot, the most notable competitor was David Shauti, who finished 2 kilos of meat and rice with a litre of water in just eight minutes.

Interestingly, Shauti still went ahead to help other contestants finish their food after wiping his bowl clean.

"I would advise other people to join eating competitions. It is just like any other sport which requires one to train and practise before the d-day," he said.

Shauti clarified that training for eating contests involves running for long distances and going to the gym.
