Kisumu - A police officer stationed at the Nyamasaria police post lost a government vehicle to a quartet of daring men who had trailed him to a fuel filling station.

The incident occurred on the dawn of Saturday, December 23, at the Hub Petrol Station along Kisumu-Nairobi road.

According to the investigators, one of the attackers armed with an AK 47 rifle approached the officer before the other three men showed up.

They subdued and unceremoniously ejected him from the vehicle and injured him in his right leg.

The attackers later took control of the vehicle registration details GKB 110A/ KBQ431Q, and left with it.

Besides the vehicle, the officer was robbed of a laptop bag bearing a police radio set, a police notebook, a personal mountain bike, a brown wallet containing an ATM card, an identification card, an NHIF card and a police certificate of appointment, according to Citizen TV.

The officer encountered his tribulations while on his way to a patrol base where he was to join his colleagues.

A few weeks back, a senior police officer was robbed of his pistol at gunpoint in the Kingeero area of Kiambu county.

In a statement at Kingeroo Police Station, James Mburu Kimani said he was accosted by a gang of three on Monday, October 22.

Kimani, the inspector of police who is in charge of the Mwimuto police post, said he was delivering medicine to his sick colleague when the thugs armed with pistols attacked him.

According to a report seen by TUKO.co.ke, Kimani was waiting for the gate to be opened by his colleague Elsie Mukami when the gunmen ordered them to lie down at gunpoint.

"He went to a nearby chemist and bought some medicine and took it to her residence at King'eero near Catholic church map reference Bj 633642 about 1km north of the station and while IP Mukami was opening the gate for him to enter they were accosted by three robbers who were armed with pistols," the police report read.

They then ordered him and the colleague to surrender all their valuables before grabbing his Jericho pistol with 15 bullets.

"They were ordered at gunpoint to lie down and robbed IP James Kimani of his firearm, make Jericho s/no. 44332418 loaded with 15 rounds of 9mm and his mobile phone of make Realme valued at KSh 25,000. The robbers escaped towards Gitaru. Nobody was injured during the incident," the statement added.
