Kakamega - Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale is a relieved man following an operation on his wife.

In a post on Twitter on Friday, August 19, the veteran politician revealed that his wife, Josephine Umina Khalwale, was from surgery.

Like a caring husband, the lawmaker stood beside her wife's bed in a ward at the Aga Khan Hospital.

Khalwale also showed photos of her wife's heavily bandaged leg that was under the knife at the hospital.

The outspoken legislator thanked the doctor and the surgical team involved in his wife's medical procedure.

He added that Mama Josephine was in high spirits as she embarked on her recovery following the much-needed surgery.

"Thank you, my colleague and friend, Dr Opondi, your entire surgical team, and the Aga Khan Hospital for the successful operation on my wife.

What is total knee replacement surgery

According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, total knee replacement surgery is a medical procedure that helps people with severe knee pain and limited mobility due to damaged knee joints.

During the surgery, the damaged parts of the knee joint are removed and replaced with artificial components made of metal, plastic, or ceramic.

These components mimic the functions of a healthy knee, allowing smoother movement and reduced pain.

After the surgery, patients undergo a recovery process that involves physical therapy and exercises to regain strength, flexibility, and mobility in the new knee joint.

Khalwale performs emergency operation

On Saturday, June 24, Khalwale returned to the theatre to perform emergency surgery on a man in critical condition.

The trained and certified medical doctor turned politician posted an update from the Mukumu Hospital, where the man was admitted.

Khalwale claimed that the patient, Sebastian Lidigu was a lecturer at Kisumu Polytechnic, adding that he was allegedly attacked by his son, who left him with serious injuries.

"He was grievously injured after his machete welding son attacked him."

Khalwale expressed gratitude for saving Lidigu's life after a gruelling two-hour operation.
