Nairobi - Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has disclosed that Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition rode on the cost of living to win people into their side.

Alai explained that their main issue as the opposition was the constitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

"In maandamano, our main issue was IEBC. Political policy is about culture power then why are we focusing on the cost of living? Kenyans have developed a mentally that whatever route you have used does not matter, as long as you are in power," Alai explained

Speaking to the TV47, the outspoken leader said that because it was difficult to sell, they had to mop people's emotions and bring in the cost-of-living issue.

"So IEBC might not have been very good to sell, we had to bundle it up with the cost of living, but I believe the cost of living should be a civil society issue. It should not be a political issue," he disclosed.

The MCA went ahead to say that some leaders in Azimio la Umoja weighed down the coalition over their underhand dealings, forcing other committed members to do a double job.

Robert Alai mentions leaders who've burdened Azimio

Alai recently downplayed the significance of former president Uhuru Kenyatta and Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua to the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party.

In a statement, Alai stated that ODM party, led by Raila Odinga, only finds value in the Wiper Party, led by Kalonzo Musyoka and the Democratic Alliance Party of Kenya(DAP-K), led by Eugene Wamalwa.

"ODM currently finds value in a coalition with Wiper and DAP-K. Others are donkeys we have to whip to make any impact," said Alai.

Without mentioning names, the city MCA said other parties in the opposition coalitions were only stressing the ODM party.
