Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg are preparing for their battle of the billionaires.

On Tuesday, August 15, Musk claimed that it was Zuckerberg who turned down the idea of a potential fight at Italy's Colosseum.

Musk claims Zuckerberg has grown cold feet

According to Musk's tweet, the two tech moguls had supposedly agreed to the playful bout, and Rome even offered up the iconic Colosseum as the venue for the match.

However, in a comedic twist, Musk claimed that Zuckerberg didn't want to do it and declined the offer.

"Zuck declined," Musk said.

Musk hilariously said he suggested an alternative venue: he offered to fight in Zuckerberg's backyard.

"I suggested his home as 'safe space,'" Musk said.

Zuckerberg no longer interest in cage fight

Meanwhile, Zuckerberg has offered a completely different version of the situation, saying he is no longer interested in fighting the Tesla CEO in a cage match.

Zuckerberg claimed that Musk has been dodging him and making excuses.

According to him, he offered a date for the fight, but Musk said he needed to undergo minor surgery on his shoulder blade first.

Competition between the tech tycoons became high after Zuckerberg launched its Twitter-like Threads platform in early July.

According to Complex, Zuckerberg took to his Threads account and told off Elon.

"I think we can all agree Elon isn't serious and it's time to move on... I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won't confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead," Zuckerberg posted on Threads.

The Meta boss added:

"If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I'm going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously."
