Nairobi - A journalist has downplayed the viral clip of President William Ruto stopping her from asking him about the fresh truce talks between the government and the Opposition.

Grace Kuria's reaction

During a press briefing at State House in Nairobi on Wednesday, August 2, the president stopped TV47 journalist Grace Kuria from asking questions regarding bipartisan talks.

The video of the head of state interrupting the journalist's question about the upcoming talks went viral on social media.

However, reacting to a Kenyan who had uploaded the short clip on his Twitter page, Grace remained unbothered.

According to the seasoned journalist, asking a question is better than keeping quiet.

"It's better to ask you know...Better to ask than remain quiet," Grace said.

Kenyans praise Ayub Abdikadir's boldness

Elsewhere, Citizen TV journalist Ayub Abdikadir's boldness got Kenyans marvelling at his journalistic skills after he asked Ruto tough questions.

The president was holding his second roundtable interview since becoming the head of state at the State House in Nairobi on Sunday, May 14.

During the interview, several journalists representing different media houses questioned the president on the state of the nation.

However, Ayub stole the show by asking straight and well-researched hard-hitting questions to the president.

For instance, without fear, Ayub pinned down the president over excessive taxation and perceived skewed government appointments.

The president, as he always does when pinned down, tried to evade the questions, but the journalist insisted that he must answer him.

President William Ruto to Ayub: Are you saying that you don’t think it is your business to contribute to the employment of the unemployed Kenyans?

Ayub: It is the responsibility of the Kenyan government.

Ruto: Who is the Kenyan government? The Kenyan government is me and you.

Ayub: Why would I make a contribution for others to succeed? It’s your business as a government

Ruto: That is why the constitution gives me the power to tax and the power to sign things into law.
