Kawira Mwangaza Pays Early Morning Visit To Family Living In Dilapidated House, Vows To Change Their Lives

Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza paid an early morning visit to a family living in a dilapidated house and vowed to help them after being moved by the sorry state of their living conditions.

Mwangaza moved by living conditions

The home, nestled in Kathatene in Igembe, is inhabited by a young teen called Kanana and her grandparents, who all looked dishevelled, with the old man walking around bare feet.

Their house entailed a roof with rusty iron sheets, a wall made of sticks and mud, as well as a dusty floor.

Mwangaza, who was dressed casually and looked like any other jogger on the streets, went inside and was appalled by the dark interior as well as their bedrooms.

She also went through the teen's school belongings to establish the extent of their need.

Mwangaza to help Kanana's family

"I thank God. I have this morning visited Kanana and her grandparents at their home Kathatene - Igembe," said Mwangaza.

"Operation Okolea Kaana ka Miiru ( help save a Meru child). Their story is changing in Jesus' mighty name," she added.

According to the Meru county government website, Okolea kaana Ka Miiru works to save kids from Meru through programs that focus on community empowerment. The programs work through education and lifting the welfare of the marginalised, including people with Disabilities as well as the poor.

Johnson Sakaja donates foodstuffs to families

In July 2023, Nairobi governor Sakaja Johnson promised to support families living around the Dandora dumpsite.

Sakaja's political advisor, William Fazul Nganga, oversaw the donation of foodstuff to over 1000 families.

TUKO.co.ke learnt that the beneficiaries of the food donations thanked the first-term governor, with some of them saying the gesture came at the right time.
