While these tales may be taken with a grain of humour, they also offer insights into cultural nuances and the dynamics of family relationships in Kenya.

Humourous takes on household dominance

Stories shared on the Twitter thread were often playful banter than serious displays of dominance.

Kenyan culture often celebrates humour as a means of communication, especially within the family setting.

Men, in particular, may adopt witty and funny tactics to maintain a light-hearted atmosphere while asserting their presence as respected figures.

"As a man (married) what do you do in your household to show your kids and wife wewe ni simba? (you are the lion in the house)" Osama posed the question.

Netizens react to men asserting dominance

Here is what they had to say:

@Osama_otero

Mimi sijawahi knock kwangu, it is a sign of weakness. In most cases mimi hupiga mlango teke. Na sijawahi smile.

@Gideon_Kitheka

Man is a Priest, Leader, and Provider to his Family, when you choose those three, even the world, shall respect you.

@cbs_ke

"Unangurumaaa ukiwa kwa nyumba."

@alataowino

"Unafaa unaingia home tu jioni na panga unapiga mlango teke,unapiga somma na unatoka unarudi asubuhi and such random acts bila ku explain,utaona tu watu wakishika line bila kuambiwa."

@Macha_icon

"Fika kwa nyumba, weka KBC alafu toa remote batteries. Wakileta mchele osha mikono enda lala bila kukula wacha wakuamshe ugali ikiiva. Be unpredictable."

Nyamu advises women to protect men's ego

In other news, nominated senator Karen Nyamu in 2021 argued that men have their egos to protect and that the sense of self-esteem should never be put on the line as a punishment.

The mother of three said that women must find better ways of solving their domestic and marital conflicts without embarrassing the man of the house.

"Ladies a smart woman protects her man's ego. Your man's ego should never be put on the line as a punishment. All a man has is their manhood and their masculinity.
Don't embarrass him by using simping as a punishment. Find a punishment that won't get him ridiculed because woii my man. Let him be known out here for his bravery, his boldness even as his lowest (sic)," she said.
