Muthiga - A boda boda rider has shown his humane side in his job following a heartwarming gesture.

John Muchiri Mwangi returned money sent to him by mistake by one of his regular customers.

The father of one said instead of the customer sending him KSh 1,250, she sent an extra KSh 10,000.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Mwangi, who has been a rider for six years, said he was astonished at first when he saw the money.

"I had not noticed she had sent me so much money until I looked at my balance after carrying another client. My Mpesa balance was around KSh 13,000, and I was surprised because I did not have that amount in my account. I scrolled message by message until I saw the client's name," he narrated.

The young man said he had been sent to buy a carton of milk and bread worth KSh 1,250, but he was paid beyond the intended money.

Mwangi immediately called the client and asked if she had sent the money purposefully or by mistake.

"She was also shocked. She did not countercheck after she sent the money, so she must have missed it. I was glad that someone got their money back," he said.

Kinoo rider returns KSh 50,000

The rider from Kinoo, who operates in Muthiga said it was not the first time such an incident had occurred.

He recalled other instances where he was sent money by mistake, and he returned all of them.

"Someone sent me KSh 50,000 once, and I returned it. If it is not my money, then I always return it. I earn my money by right, not luck. It can also happen to me, so I think of what the client may be going through. My heart was at peace and very much relieved," he noted.

Similarly, a Nairobi businesswoman returns KSh 31,000 mistakenly sent to her by a stranger.

Nyawira Mukami, the owner of 254 Footwear, made a heartwarming display of honesty by returning the money a stranger mistakenly sent her.

Upon receiving the unexpected funds, Nyawira contacted the sender, a lady identified as Lulu, to clarify the purpose of the transaction.

Nyawira emphasised the importance of counterchecking transactions and urged individuals to be more cautious while making payments.
