Mombasa Car Seller Emotionally Recalls Painstaking Journey Of Tarmacking, Shares Shoes He Wore

The owner of Alasiri Motors in Mombasa recently took a trip down memory lane to 2018 when he started hustling to make ends meets as a car salesman.

It was a difficult beginning that has since turned him into a successful man who can now only look back at his journey with glee.

The nostalgic shoe

In a long post on Twitter, the businessman shared a photo of the single pair of shoe he owned back then, one the speak volumes of his years of toil.

"If shoes could talk then this one will tell how it walked from one end of the island to the other as I took photos of cars and uploaded them online for buyers," he recalled.

According to him, there were days he would return home with only KSh 20 shillings at a time he had just had his first kid.

He remembered the day they went to bed at 10pm and put the last diaper they had on the baby, only for her to mess it up with poop.

Now owns Axio, Raptor

Since he was only left with KSh 20, he spent the money on replacement diapers and had to walk from Shimanzi to town the following morning.

"The big break came that day when I sold my first car, a Subaru Outback, to a childhood friend in late 2019. I picked a commission of KSh 50,000," he wrote.

Four years later, the entrepreneur has turned his fortunes around and not only owns a Toyota Axio and a Ford Raptor.

Despite owning two cars, he recently gifted his father the Raptor as he finds it more convenient to operate with the Axio.

"No matter the situation do not give up. Do not cry about your situation, do something about it," he concluded.
