"Mnafanya vitu hazina maana. Kama ni ndoa mnachukua wasichana wa watu mnaenda kuzaa, mnazaa tu vituko (You do things with have no meaning. If it is marriage, you just take women and get kids with them and they don't end up being okay). You don't pay dowry and go to church to say 'praise God'. You're just a liar. Inside your heart, you have nothing," he said.

He continued:

"Msichana alitoroka shule, wewe unatoroka kwenu mnazaa kizazi cha mungiki...kama wazazi wenyewe hawafayi ibada (If your woman ran away from school, you ran away from your parents then get children who aren't okay...you as parents you don't even go to church."

Ng'ang'a used the example of Jacob in the Bible to pass across the point, saying he paid dowry for Laban's two daughters, Rachel and Leah.

"Jacob alifanya kazi for 14 years, wacha wewe Onyango na Kamau. Liars and conmen," he said.

Several netizens echoed Maina's sentiments.

The man of the cloth is happily married to Murugi, a woman half his age, and they are among the powerful celebrity couple in the gospel industry.

Dennis Okari says he didn't pay dowry

In a separate story published on TUKO.co.ke former NTV presenter Dennis Okari opened up about his second marriage to Naomi Joy.

On Saturday, June 24, during the Daughters of Zion (DOZ) meeting at Jubilee Christian Church (JCC), hosted by Reverend Kathy Kiuna, Okari, who was one of the guests, revealed that he never paid dowry for Naomi.

"I never paid dowry. When you get into marriage, you learn it is like a transaction. My wife and I sat down, and I told her, 'this is the money I have in my account. If your uncles want to charge me 10 cows and other things, I don't have that kind of money. So I'm going to give you a wedding, I'll take you to a nice place for honeymoon, I'll get you a house, but for now I don't have this kind of money," he said.

He continued:

"What my wife did is she went and spoke to the mother and told her not to ask me for any dowry."

Okari said he visited his in-laws with his father and uncles, and when they asked them what they wanted them (Okari's family) to bring as dowry, they said "nothing".

"They came out of the house and told me, 'you're the luckiest human being on earth. They didn't ask for anything'. The promise I made to my wife was, I'll do something for your mother, and a year later, I built her a new bedroomed bungalow," he narrated.

The father of two and his better half celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary four months ago with sweet messages.
