Paul Mackenzie Says Biggest Sin He's Committing Is Eating, Says Jesus Will Save Him From It One Day

Kilifi - Suspected cult leader Paul Mackenzie has claimed that eating is the biggest sin he has committed since his incarceration.

Mackenzie has been in police custody since April 2023 after a cult linked to him was discovered in Shakahola, Kilifi; hundreds of people died after he brainwashed them to starve to death so that they could meet their creator.

Speaking in court on Thursday, August 10, Mackenzie, who has been demanding his release from prison, told journalists that the biggest sin he is committing is eating meals.

"The Holy Spirit is with me, which is why I am so happy. Do you understand me? The biggest sin I am committing right now is eating. One day I shall be saved from the sin of eating. I know I will live with Jesus forever," he said.

He was presented at The Shanzu Law court with 27 others linked to the deadly Shakahola cult.

The court ruled that he and his co-accused would be detained for a further 47 days as per the prosecution's request.

What are Paul Mackenzie's complaints

Ironically, the controversial preacher complained a week ago that he was being denied food and subjected to inhuman conditions while behind bars.

During the hearing of the prayer by the prosecution to have Mackenzie and his co-accused detained for 47 more days at the Shanzu Law Courts on Friday, August 4, the cleric decried being put through inhumane conditions.

The preacher told the court that he had been isolated from his co-accused and placed in solitary confinement.

Mackenzie said he had gone for days without seeing sunlight, pointing out that he was not demanding his release but for the court to save him.

Paul Mackenzie says he's ready to die

There was also an emotional moment at the Shanzu Law Courts as the cleric's case was mentioned last week.

The visibly agitated Shakahola cult leader decried mistreatment by prison officials, who he accused of not allowing him to see sunlight.

Mackenzie told the court that he had resigned to his fate and was ready to die if the authorities felt tired of him.
