The individual, who was employed as a laborer at that time, is currently facing charges for unlawfully entering the exhibit room and committing the serious crime.

Investigations allege that the suspect has been posted at the station as a labourer when he committed the offence.

While disseminating his duties, the convict gained entry into the exhibit room in Chilanga at about 8am and stole the exhibits weighing 25kgs.

Public reactions

Among the items Yoba is accused of stealing are copper and aluminium wires owned by the government, all valued at KSh 440,000.

An inquiry led the investigators to the offender who was located at Mwembeshi Air Prison, where he was being held for a different case.

"This is what happens when you are more scared of the outside world. Release date must have been approaching and umwine he has obviously made prison a home."

"That clearly shows that, the punishment he was given wasn't something that can change him rather make him more comfortable to commit more crimes."

"He just thought of increasing his jail sentence after discovering how tough the economy is outside prison."

Jelita Kasenga

"If a person can steal from the police what hope do we have has civilians?"

Prisoner tries to escape prison

In another story, a man serving 15 years for murder tried to escape prison disguised as a sheep.

The Bolivian man named José Luis Callisaya Diaz attempted to escape from Chonchocoro, a maximum security prison, on February 4.

José, also known as "El Araña" meaning "the spider," used his fleece coat to disguise himself as a sheep.

Given the weather was cold, he thought the coat would give him good cover, however, authorities noticed he wasn't in his cell and found him crawling on the prison lawn.
