Sarah Kabu Recalls Buying First Car 20 Years Ago While Earning KSh 30k Monthly

Businesswoman Sarah Kabu has disclosed when she bought her first car and what it took to own an automobile.

How Sarah Kabu bought her first car

In a video shared on her TikTok page, the mother of two revealed that when she bought her first car, she was earning a monthly salary of KSh 30,000.

She also shared that her first car was a Toyota Vitz and would save monthly so she could have enough to buy her own car.

"It was not easy to achieve it. Yaani, I felt like I had owned the world when I owned that Vitz. Because it was a dream come true. I saved KSh 100,000. I was saving KSh 10,000 every month and I was earning KSh 30,000. Unafinya budget mpaka unasave 10k. At the end of the year, I had KSh 120,000," she said.

She then decided to save the same amount for another year, and had KSh 240,000 by the end of the second year.

"Then Vitz ikatokea. I was among the first ten Kenyans to own a Vitz," she said.

Sarah Kabu on how she met hubby

Sarah's husband Simon Kabu narrated he met his wife Sarah back in 2007 in an online group that had young professionals.

The two talked for a year before eventually meeting after people asked the group of 10k people to meet for team-building.

They worked together to organise the meetup, which led to their tours and travel company being formed before they married.
