Tim Njiru, a former TV presenter turned pilot, has shed light on the superficial life some media personalities lead.

How do TV presenters fake lifestyles?

The former KTN presenter said that TV presenters go to extremes to keep up appearances, including borrowing clothes.

On Thursday, August 24, Njiru shared a photo of himself being featured in a magazine while wearing a white suit.

He looked dapper and smiled at the camera, but Njiru disclosed that all was not as it seemed.

“That white suit in this picture was borrowed.”

Njiru then spilt the beans on the fake lifestyles most Kenyan news anchors lead.

“Most news anchors and TV presenters live on borrowed clothes. Some manage to pay it off and own the clothes, but many don’t,” he wrote.

Njiru disclosed that some even borrowed cars to keep up with the Joneses. He called on media personalities to live within their means and stop the pretence.

“Not just clothes, add cars, jewellery and even the lifestyle. A life of debt can engulf your spirit, your soul dies, and you cannot authentically meet simple things like relationships or family.
Get out of debt, break those chains!”

Many people agreed with his sentiments about debt, saying:

@ericnyaga:

“I know what you are talking about. Debt makes you live in dread. All decisions are tainted with fear
It squeezes the life out of you.”

@BenjiNdolo:

“Debt is a millstone around your neck. Avoid it at all costs.”

How did Tim Njiru get KSh 3m debt?

Njiru recently said he lived beyond his means to keep up appearances and even had two vehicles.

His lifestyle saw him accrue a KSh 3 million debt before realising he had to make major changes in his life.

Njiru narrated how he managed to repay the debts and sign up for pilot school, as well as lessons learned.
