Nairobi - Six traders have been accused of defrauding members of the Drumvale Farmers Cooperative Society of 452 hectares of land valued at KSh 11 billion in the Mavoko area in Machakos county.

During their appearance before Milimani Principal Magistrate Rose Ndubi, the suspects pleaded not guilty to charges of fraudulently obtaining registration of the land (Mavoko Block 12 No.IR204303 LR.8529/7) under their names at Ardhi House.

Furthermore, they refuted claims of transferring 141 hectares of the property and registering it under Genana Developers Limited, according to Nation.

Mavoko land suspects freed on bond

The suspects; Jeremiah Mutisya Paul, Joseph Njue, Omar Khalif Adan, Mohamed Salat Ibrahim, Adow Ahmed Mohamede, and Mohamed Kuroyow, were granted freedom on a KSh 10 million bond each, accompanied by a surety of a similar amount, or an alternative cash bail of KSh 5 million.

The alleged fraudulent activities are reported to have occurred between February 2018 and January 2021. The case is scheduled for a hearing on May 30, 2024.

Hype Ballo released on KSh 500k cash bail

Elsewhere Kiambu High Court Judge Justice Dorah Chepkwony granted Allan Ochieng, also known as Hype Ballo, a cash bail of KSh 500,000 or a bond of KSh 500,000 with the same surety amount.

He was apprehended with six others, including renowned DJ Joseph Mwenda, also known as DJ Joe Mfalme, in connection with the killing of Felix Kitosi, a senior detective from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Following a 14-day detention, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) suggested that Hype Ballo face murder charges, while DJ Mfalme and the remaining suspects would serve as state witnesses.
