The senator further called for the arrest of Kakamega governor Fernandes Barasa over the distribution of fake fertiliser in the county.

"Governor Barasa should be arrested for acquiring fake fertiliser for the people of Kakamega. I call on the president to have him arrested and the people given back their money," Khalwale added.

The outspoken senator told the president not to allow a few individuals to sabotage his agenda of fighting food insecurity in Kenya.

The chairperson of the National Council of Churches in Kenya (NCCK), Timothy Ndambuki, also called on accountability to ensure Kenyan farmer do not lose their money in fertiliser scandal.
