What does Carren's baby suffer from?

Born with spina bifida, a congenital disability affecting the spine, Carren’s daughter underwent surgery soon after birth.

Although the operation corrected the defect, it left her paralysed from the waist down and unable to control her bowel and bladder movements.

“When she was five months old, she developed hydrocephalus, which is a buildup of fluid in the brain,” Carren shared with TUKO.co.ke.

“She had another surgery to insert a pipe from her head to her stomach to drain the fluid.”

Carren describes the journey as incredibly tough, leaving her emotionally, mentally, and physically strained.

Despite these hardships, she has shown remarkable determination by enrolling for studies at KMTC Kakamega Campus.

However, balancing her education with her daughter’s intensive care needs has proven extremely challenging.

“My daughter now moves using her behind or sometimes crawls on her belly,” Carren explained.

“I am struggling to provide her with the basic necessities, especially diapers and a wheelchair. I am reaching out to anyone who can help us, and I will forever be grateful.”

The family’s situation is dire, and Carren is making a heartfelt plea for support.
