According to the report, her uterus was bleeding because of an abruption of the placenta, which is when the placenta separates and causes heavy bleeding.

Dominic Makau, the cousin of the deceased, said the family is banking on the police to reveal what caused the abruption of the placenta.

"According to the doctors, she had bleeding in the uterus, which was caused by the abruption placenta, which they said detached itself. And what caused that is what we need the DCI to find out," said Makau.

Placental abruption occurs when the placenta detaches from the inner wall of the womb before delivery. The condition can deprive the baby of oxygen and nutrients.

Who is Faith Musembi?

As reported earlier, the 19-year-old university student was killed on Wednesday, May 8, in Pilot Estate in Thika.

Her tormentors had demanded upward of KSh 27,000 ransom before they killed her, her father Boniface Musembi revealed.

Speaking to Citizen TV, Musembi explained that the suspects used his daughter's phone while making their demands.

Faith's mother would oblige and send the money, as they reported the matter to the police.

But the officers at the Thika Police Station ruled out the report, concluding that Faith's tormentors were playing a prank on her family.
