Nairobi - Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchoma has rebuked UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala for threatening to expel her from the party.

On Wednesday, May 29, Malala threatened to institute disciplinary action against a section of elected UDA leaders, specifically Wamuchomba, Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga.

How Wamuchomba responded to Malala's statement

In her response, Wamuchomba dismissed claims of defiance against the party leadership, insisting that the UDA party stands for democratic principles where leaders are free to air their views.

The outspoken lawmaker said Malala would not silence her, warning that the UDA secretary-general's route might be bumpy and itchy.

"My party is called the United Democratic Alliance, which means it is founded on democratic principles, mainly liberty and equality. You have the liberty to do what is necessary.

"I’m happy you have started the journey. It will be bumpy and itchy. We don’t buy fear, we die while chewing razor blades. You touch the Hill you shake the Mountain," Wamuchomba said.

Why Malala is targeting Wamuchomba

Wamuchomba claimed her decision to attend the Limuru III forum, where they advocated for equitable resource sharing, could have itched Malala.

"I guess what rattled you is that thing we demand called equality of resources ( One man, one vote, one shilling), an issue that you and your cronies use as political bait. Mt. Kenya population just believed in UDA on this promise," she stated.

Why Mutahi Kahiga wants Malala ousted

In related news, Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga downplayed Malala's threats in his response, saying he holds no substantial position in the ruling party.

Kahiga, a close ally of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, claimed that Malala was unfit to hold the position.

Kahiga called for the removal of Malala from his position in the upcoming party elections, arguing that he was adding no value to the ruling party.
