Gospel musician Nelson Misikhu The Boy has criticised churches and their leaders for engaging in commercial activities.

In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Misikhu alleged that numerous churches are more focused on business endeavours than helping their congregants.

The musician expressed disappointment in the churches' neglect of their members, who are instrumental in their development.

Are churches helping members during crises?

Misikhu highlighted the recent flooding disaster in Kenya as an instance where churches did not step up to provide assistance through charitable contributions.

“When the floods happened, did you see any church offering aid? Their preoccupation is with internal conflicts within the church in front of the congregation, which is why God is shutting down such churches because they do not represent Him… it’s all business… We should invest in people, not edifices,” he remarked.

How can church support gospel artistes?

Furthermore, Misikhu contended that religious leaders have a duty to support gospel musicians by inviting them to perform in churches and compensating them financially.

The musician believes that gospel artistes should not face hardships when churches exist.

“Gospel artistes shouldn’t have to suffer from depression while the church stands by. Yet, church leaders are failing to provide support. They expect gospel musicians to offer their talents for free, which is unjust. Whenever I voice the truth, they accuse me of attacking the church,” he further stated.

Misikhu sold his toe to the devil

Previously, the musician revealed he was initiated into a cult at a young age.

According to the Ametenda hitmaker, he lost his one toe to the devil to acquire magical powers.

Misikhu said his childhood was coupled with bad stories, but he later reformed and accepted Christ as his saviour.
