Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja has encouraged President William Ruto to always wear his pink Kaunda suits.

Where is Lenana Primary School?

Speaking during the launch of Lenana Primary School in Dagoretti South on Monday, May 13, Sakaja said the president is always in a good mood and generous while in his pink suits.

While requesting Ruto to buy school uniforms for the students, Sakaja alluded to how any request made to him is fulfilled when he wears his pink suit.

"When my boss is around, I know he will say yes. When he wears a Kaunda suit, you know he is in a good mood. Every time he wears that Kaunda, he will fulfill any request that is made to him," Sakaja said.

Responding to Sakaja's school uniform request, Ruto said:

"Every child that will come here for the first time, I will buy them a uniform, including shoes. I will send uniform makers to take the measurement of every child. But for now, allow all students to come to school so that learning can continue," Ruto said.

Additionally, Ruto, with the help of area MP John Kiare, promised to build the remaining 24 classrooms.

"I'm committed to build the remaining 24-classrooms. I have agreed with the contractor to begin the job immediately. We are also going to buy desks for our grade four students. I will be back in two months to open the classrooms for our grade four pupils," he said.

Parliament bans Kaunda suits for MPs

In November 2023, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula banned Kaunda suit among Members of Parliament after MPs had started following suit of the president.

He also banned the wearing of traditional attire unless called upon.

He urged the legislators to follow the dress code of Parliament.
