Kenya Airways has issued an advisory urging travellers and customers to arrive at the airport at least four hours before their scheduled departure time due to severe flooding in Nairobi.

The heavy downpours witnessed in most parts of the country have led to significant traffic disruptions across major towns, including the capital Nairobi, potentially delaying passengers en route to the airport, bus, and railway stations.

"Due to the ongoing heavy downpours being experienced in Nairobi that could lead to traffic jams across many roads, customers are advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours before flight departure and are encouraged to plan extra time to avoid potential delays en route to the airport," a statement shared by KQ on the evening of Friday, May 3, read.

Alternatively, KQ said travellers can check in online through the airline’s website or the KQ Mobile app, starting from 48 hours up to 90 minutes before flight departure.

This announcement comes amid a series of weather-related challenges that have affected all forms of travel in the region.
